MAORI LAND COURT APPLICATION

UPDATED 5 NOVEMBER 2018

In accordance with owners consultation since December 2016 two applications were lodged with the Maori Land Court for:

  1. A status change of part of the land to General Land for securitisation purposes and
  2. A Variation of the Trust Order for certain amendments.

Contested hearings were held in the Maori Land Court in June 2018 and Judge Coxhead decided on 24th October 2018 to dismiss both applications. A copy of the Courts decision is available here (MLC decision pdf).

The Trustees are now reviewing the Court decision and the implications for Te Tumu Kaituna 14 Trust owners.

Once that review is completed a further update will be provided to owners.
